Okay my friend wants to change his hair. everyone in my school has the same damn hairstyle (light/dark ceaser, trying to make their hair have waves in it). He's sick of having the same hairstyle as everyone else in the school. Since he is from the african american decent, his hair is naturally curly and so is almost 95% of our school. He isn't looking for something bazaar, just something different and cool. Could you guys help him since his family doesn't want him to change, and nobody else but me has given him advice?I already gave him a handful of choices and he has turned them all down. He wants to make his hair straight, and i don't know how to help him.

Call the local beauty salon and ask about a relaxer?

He could go get a chemical relaxer,or if he has long hair get it put into braids. If he doesn't want the chemical option, a flat iron...but make sure to use a good heat protectant too!

Flat iron his hair before you do anything chemical. Let him see the results if he gets his hair relaxed (WHICH SHOULD BE DONE PROFESSIONALLY). If he likes it, take him to a salon (as a barber isn't licensed to relax hair, at least in my state) because a home relaxer could bring a myriad of problems (hair broken off by leaving chemical on too long, severe scalp burns or sores from not basing correctly).
There's also more temporary options like braids or dreds (which look good on nearly all ethnic men IF his hair is the right texture...tightly curled or "napped" enough to hold the shape). Those would probably be better for him than a relaxer because men tend to take less pride in their hair, and chemically altered hair needs to be well-taken care of and conditioned so that it doesn't break out.
