African American Perm?

Hi, I'm getting a perm again after 2 years. My hair was so damaged from dyes, hair glue, and weaves. So I cut it all off for the perm to grow out, now I'm getting another one and would like to know what is the best way to maintain healthy hair when having a perm?

African American Perm?

First your hair needs a lot of moisture. So apply a hair dressing that contains herbs, vitamins. I suggest Doo Gro Moisturizing Lotion. Limit your use of heated hair appliances. These appliances makes your hair dry and brittle and eventaully break off.

Shampoo and Condition your hair every 10-12 days. Africian American women does not need to shampoo that often. The reason why shampoos removes the natural oils from our hair. Always wrap up your hair at night with a silk or satin scarf. The other materials absorbs the oils from the hair. Never go to bed with having your hair roll or wrapped. Do not use rubber bands in your hair.

African American Perm?

it is not called an african american perm. it is called a relaxer.

Relaxers ARE VERY DAMAGING. That is a fact. The main ingredient in relaxers is also in Drano! Relaxers straighten the hair by breaking down the protein in the hair. This also causes a loss in fatty acids in the hair strands.

You must make sure that your hair has an adequate amount of moisture and protein. Deep condition one time a week. Shampoo weekly. Do a protein treatment every month. DO NOT USE GREASE. Moisturize daily.

I somewhat agree with Lady Gemini. yes use a lot of moisturizer, less heat and keep your hair wrapped at night... but depending on the type od hair you have you can wash it as needed... the oils will find their way back. lay off the heavy grease if you use grease. it tends to clog your pores and your hair will grow much faster. try a lit moisturizer. ask yourself if you need a perm before you do it. try Dr miracle perm for about $8 it has good botanicals in it. comb your hair daily clip your ends at least once a month... and you will be good... anything else ask me ill tell you

With all this being said before;

You have to moisturize daily, but try not using those oils and stuff except when you're about to wash your hair...Soft and Sheen have some pretty good products

Although ppl tend to think that you shouldnt wash your hair to often, it is recommended to wash hair once or twice a week depending on what you do with your hair(excess dirt isnt good for your scalp unless you are about to relax your hair cause it protects ur scalp)

Use serum for the ends of your hair...they damage easily so u need to keep them from splitting which will just cause breakage

Avoid straightening your hair too much...I do it every week when i wash my hair but u have to compensate with lots of moisturizing

2 or 3 times a month, do some deep conditioning(e.g. palm oil+egg+mayo)

hair beauty also depends of yourself...drink 1.5Liters of water per day. Eat 5 fruits+veggies/day

There are pills that help keep ur hair healthy, strong and long...try Ren茅 Futerer

For a daily care, avoid wearing ponytails all the time, especially if it gone be tight. That breaks hair.

Wear a scarf to bed so your hair does not get caught on your pillow.

So check out Ren茅 Futerer for pills, Soft and Sheen for moisturizers, shampoos, conditionners. You can go to a hair salon once a month to check if your hair is healthy or needs treatment.
