Are you supposed to WASH out permanent hair dye?

I am dyeing my hair natural black today, and i am an african american female with long hair. I got the dark and lovely brand hair dye for african american females, but i the kit contains only the cream developer, haircolor, and this moisture conditioner tube. the instructions say basically to do the color then rinse in warm water and work the color mixture into a lather. then it says to rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Then it says to apply the moisture conditioner and leave on for minutes and rinse. Why don't you shampoo?

Most permanent hair dyes just include the cream developer, the dye and the conditioner. Nothing to be alarmed about

The shampoo might react and turn the dye another colour.

yes the instructions are correct, you basically put all dye in your hair then with a bit of water lather the dye up in your hair (which is like a shampoo) then condition. The reason you dont shampoo with a original shampoo is because the shampoo may react with the dye and turn the dye a different colour also the shampoo acts as a balancing solution so the shampoo will stop the dye from setting in properly.

Probably to let it settle in your hair first. After that you can wash your hair and it wont come out cause its permanent. You have to let it grow out.

I think the shampoo might break down the dye too quickly. Since you are rinsing the color out, you won't need the shampoo. Dye is not a harsh chemical like a relaxer, which requires shampoo.

I always wondered that myself. Ive been dyeing my hair for years and even though the instructions dont say so, I use shampoo before the moisture conditioner. It doesn't affect the color at all and Your hair will be nice and clean!

You do not shampoo after hair color for a few days I wait at least 5. Give your hair a chance. black hair is very delicate, too. Be should to rinse it all out no shampoo!

becasue if you use shampoo, then it will wash out all the hair dye, and then it will be a waste of money. and the conditioner is too soften it and your hair, I think you're supposed to mix the dye with the cream. so yeah. I hope you get hair the way you want it. Good Luck! :-)

I always shampoo and condition after coloring my hair, whether I'm told to or not. If nothing else, it gets the excess tint off your scalp and hairline so you can show off your color immediately without having to worry about that just-been-colored look.

If you're in doubt, it can never to hurt to wash your hair after a permanent color. So unless you want to walk around all day with excess chemicals in your hair, possibly damaging and drying your hair and scalp, you should wash the tint out when your color has set. =)

because shampooing your hair cleans it and you have just put stuff into your hair so shampooing it right aways will wash out dye that is newly put into your hair so its not good to do.

the conditioner makes your hair soft and nice and makes the color stay in and works it in better, and stuff liek that. what i usally do is i dont shampoo my hair for a couple of days after and just condition it with that conditioner.
